Spread the right message about your Business

priceI have always wondered, how come big companies like nike, coca cola etc continue dominating. Yes there are many good companies out there with better products but these guys are still on top. I couldn’t understand how they do it. So i took my time to look at them closely and i found something that i would like to share with you today in this post.

If you look at a lion, yes it is the king of the jungle but it doesn’t keep quiet, it roars all the time. The same applies to companies like nike, they are always making some noise and their marketing team is always at work. But one thing i like about nike is how they spread their message.

Ok, think about nike for a minute. These guys sell shoes, yes shoes and we all know that. But if you listen or watch their adverts, you hardly hear them shouting “Shoes for R200, shoes for R700”, NO NO NO they never do that. But they promote great athletes, and this is their selling point. They tell the world what they believe in and out of that the world see value in what nike is selling.

The last advert i watched, Christiano Ronaldo was playing soccer with some kids and many players started popping out from nowhere, the likes of Messi etc but all of them were wearing nike soccer shoes. If you look at it properly nike is spreading the right message about their business that is the value of their products to athletes.

This is how i believe businesses should spread their message and market their products. Its obvious if you come to me talking about how cheap your products are then i will start comparing your price with another business selling much cheaper than you. But if you tell me about the value of your products to me or my business then that will make me want to buy your products.

When we started webs31 we were spreading our message like shoprite, telling people about how cheap our hosting services are and people started comparing our prices with other companies. So we were forced to compete on price to win clients but as a start-up you can’t do that because soon you will be out of business. After one year we changed our message and we started promoting small businesses and start-ups and promoting technology in business. Our sales started increasing as compared to the previous year because now clients were concentrating on the value we bring into their business not at the price.

So i would encourage all business owners not to compete for price because the big guys like coca cola will always have an advantage. So rather tell your clients the value of your products or services to their business
