TAWANDA MUKANHAIRI, A FINAL YEAR CPUT ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING STUDENT GRADUATED WITH CUM LAUDE

Tawanda Mukanhairi1The emerging young entrepreneur, engineer and leader Tawanda broke the records after graduating with CUM LAUDE (distinction) in Electrical Engineering (Electronic Communication Stream) on Wednesday the 13th of April 2016 at Cape Peninsula University of Technology.

Tawanda who is also Co-founder of The Governance a leading nongovernmental organisation focusing on the empowerment of young leaders, students and emerging entrepreneurs. Further, he is the chairman and CEO of Webs Technology Solution (Pty) Ltd a.k.a WEBS31 (www.webs31.com). He joined the rank of a limited number of electronic and programming engineering students that have broken the record of maintaining their pass rate from first year to final year of their study. He has been passing his subjects with an average of 83%. In some instance he would score 100% in mathematics and related subject.

Tawanda did his internship with South African Astronomical Observatory, and during his internship with the help of his colleagues he developed and implement new system like the Telescope Emergency Communication System  (TECS) that the South African Astronomical Observatory still using. While doing is internship at the South African Astronomical Observatory he had the opportunity to do more of his field of work in Sutherland where he was exposed to electronics and scientific knowledge.

At the moment, as a Technocrat and engineering graduate his focus is on developing more electronic equipments which he plan to sale to the market at an afford price. Tawanda believes that Africa can experience tangible development when business and societies as a whole embraces the use of technology for development. As such he still believe there is a need to develop electronic equipment that will cater the growing demands of Communication Information Technology  from African middle and law class family that cannot afford to buy electronic equipment at an exorbitant price.

As an entrepreneur Tawanda is busy rolling out new technology for his clients. Among some of his products on high demands because of affordability are: Online base guard patrol system, car security system, access control and time attendance systems. Similarly, as Technocrat he believes all business should have an online presence and as a resulting his company “Webs31” is offering website development and maintenance services at a reasonable yet market related price.

Finally, he want to use his computer programming skills, science and engineering to empower other young African students that want to succeed in science, engineering and entrepreneurship. Though, he wishes to empower students with interest in community development.
